Case Study: University Place School Tornado Recovery

Challenge

Elementary school was badly damaged during 2011 Tuscaloosa tornado. Most of the second floor and the cafeteria were blown away and severely damaged.

Process

We thoroughly documented the damage, worked with FEMA, and made drawings showing how to reconstruct and renovate the school to be better than ever. Documentation was done in phases and multiple bids working with a construction manager to rebuild as quickly as possible.

Results

Entire school was updated and renovated to meet their current needs.  A new tornado shelter was added.
